Obama Approves Plan to Adjust Medicare Payments

President Obama recently signed into law the “Doc Fix” bill.  The measure, which passed the Senate in mid-June and the House at the end of June, reverses a planned twenty-one percent reduction in Medicare payments to physicians.  Many feared that if the reduced rates took effect, doctors would deny care to patients on Medicare.  To ensure passage by Senators and Representatives of both parties, the measure was packaged with changes to Medicare billing procedures, antifraud provisions, and rules concerning pensions.
